All about Video Surveillance Systems and Video High Tech Equipment

The word „video“ comes from Latin and means „I see“. Today, the name is known all over the world as a synonym for video technology. EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG in Muttenz, Switzerland, committed itself to this domain since its origin.

The beginning of the history of EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG was a small office in Basel, which offered video-surveillance systems…

On the 1st of February in 1984 EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG started in this business. Founder, CEO and team of this new company was Stefan Schroeder in personal union. The offer contained only video-surveillance systems – which emerged quickly as a fast seller!

The first premises were located in Basel, Switzerland, Steinenvorstadt 77 and were big enough for a one-man business. But as soon as the requests increased heavily an upgrading was inevitable. Already one year after the founding year, first employees and additional premises completed the company.

The solution - Relocation to Muttenz, Switzerland

The move to larger premises had been done, but the space was too small again very soon. Additional buildings and a customer parking were needed urgently but it was not possible to enlarge in town because no more space was available. But we found a perfect location in the suburbs of Basel, approximately 4 km away from the city centre at the address Prattelerstrasse 35 in Muttenz. It was perfect for our standard because it extended on a respectable area of 1000 square meters. Furthermore we didn’t have parking problems anymore, customers were able to park easily in front of the building.

Technical development, additional extension

The premises of a company are not responsible for its success. Those, who would like to move forward, have to be up to speed concerning the knowledge of the newest standard of video technology. Furthermore it is very important to have a large range of products to cover all needs and wishes of our customers and a wide range of different equipment for the finishing of video production. In 1986 we founded a new section called „Professional Industrial Video“ for instruction rooms, large-screen versions, public address systems etc to satisfy the professional user’s expectations and demands.

Sony-Representation and 1st Video-Professional-Shop

A cornerstone in the history of EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG was the take-over of the Sony Professional representation in 1991.

The good experience with Sony products convinced Stefan Schroeder and his team completely. For that reason, the „1st Video-Professional-Shop“ was opened on the 12th of June in 1992, which was celebrated condignly. With the opening of this unique shop, a new branch was set up for EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG which promised new perspectives that matched very well with the rest of our offer.

In the meanwhile more well-known producers were added to the range of products and other general agencies joined the company.

Launching an incorporation

The next important and future-oriented development was the foundation of an incorporation in 1993. With this decision EOTEC AG assured its position and because of the positive course of business the share capital could be increased in 1997 again.

Buy of an own location

In 1999 EOTEC AG took over the premises at Prattelerstrasse in Muttenz and fulfilled one of its oldest wishes. The previous owner Novartis offered all of its buildings for sale which didn’t belong to its head office. Stefan Schroeder did not hesitate and bought them. Through this, EOTEC VIDEOTECHNIK AG became a land owner and decided to commute the building into modern offices to guarantee a comfortable working atmosphere.

Since we had set up the company 20 years ago, the world, the economy and the technology have changed quickly. At the beginning, our business was limited to video technology, today computer technology is even more important than video technology, but nevertheless it remains an important part of our network engineering. During the last few years we have not only installed video systems but also high quality public-address and audio-visual systems, amongst other things we have equipped the modern hockey stadium „St.Jakob-Arena“ in Basel. For that, we had to set up a new computer section. Because of all these developments, the additional name „VIDEOTECHNIK“ was not correct anymore and our company got a new name when it celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since the 1st of February in 2004 it is simply called „EOTEC AG“. Furthermore the layout was refreshed and a new logo was created which appears younger, slimmer and  more modern.

After more than 20 years of existence, EOTEC AG with its 20 employees has established as one of the leaders in this business.

1st of January 2007 - EOTEC AG moves to a new domicile

The office at Prattelerstrasse 35 busted at the seams. After having looked for new premises for quite a long time, EOTEC AG finally moved to Hardstrasse 21 in Muttenz shortly after the building had been renovated.

1st of February 2009 - Celebration of the 25th anniversary of EOTEC
